You may think many beetles would be considered “Bugs” but beetles are considered a completely separate category of insects.

The name Coleoptera means sheathed wings in Greek which describes the two pairs of wings that beetles have. One of those sets of wings has been hardened and thickened into a hard sheath referred to as an elytra. The elytra cover and protect the other, more delicate pair of wings. The largest and smallest of all insects as contained within this order. Some of the most recognizable beetles are Ladybugs, Scarabs, and Weevils.
