Family Elateridae
The name “click beetle” refers to the sound that is created when this family of insects uses the mechanism the obtain designed to fling the insect in the air when it has become stuck on its back. This family contains more than 10,000 different species spread across the world. The long and cylindrical larvae are referred to as wireworms and can be found in rotting wood. Some species in this family have bioluminescent spots, main species in tropical climates.
